About James Henry
THE BIOGRAPH

A Legacy of Rhythm

A San Francisco native, James Henry is a master percussionist, songwriter, producer, charismatic performer, and film score composer. His musical education began at age seven as a drummer in school and church, deeply influenced by legends like Narada Michael Walden, Pete Escovido, Prince, and Bill Somers.

At age thirteen, while peering through the window of the Keystone Corner Club, jazz great Art Blakey noticed James and motioned for him to sit in on bongos and percussion. Impressed by the young boy with big talent, Blakey invited him back the following night. By high school, James was writing and performing his own music. Once, while on stage in Sausalito, rock icon Jeff Beck walked in and was stopped in his tracks, exclaiming, "Wow who is that? That’s some funky rhythm!"

"His sound reflects a deep respect for traditional music blended with modern energy."
